How to find a theme-Project Description

What inspires you?

- The sunny weather since it gives me happiness and peace.

- Different and historical places such as Big Ben, Eiffel Tower etc.( it can be both old or modern)

- Natural places, parks, forests such as Hyde Park, Belgrad Forest ( Istanbul) etc. because they give me peace.

- Empty rooms ( since I want to be an interior designer I like to imagine how the rooms would look when they're filled with furniture)

What do you find interesting/fascinating/important?

- Important: Different cultures and perspectives ( I like to see the view where people are respecting each other).

- Interesting: London's weather in comparison to Istanbul ( it gets cold in summer while it is 35 degrees in Istanbul. It also gets dark very early in winter.)

- Fascinating: Pickles ( I love pickles so much. I can eat a whole box of pickles in a day)

What do you like to observe? What do you like to experience?

- I like to observe people around me. I like to see how they dress, how they talk ( their languages) etc.

- I would like to experience going to the places in London that I've never been before (streets, buildings, restaurants etc.)

Which artists or designers are you interested in or admire? Why?

- David Hockney: He is a famous painter. One of his exhibitions name was "The Arrival Of Spring". He drew his natural view that he saw everyday during the pandemic for two years. When we look at the paintings clearly we can see that he used different techniques in order to show the differences of the same trees. This exhibition was one of the exhibitions that I admired the most because I found out that I have never looked this deeply in to the nature before.

- Veronico Roth: In the both book and movie "Divergent", there is a girl who needs to change a faction for rest of her life. She is a sweet, shy and nervous girl who is afraid to do what she desires. But later in the book, she decides to get out of her comfort zone and become a brave person. So she chooses "courage". I also got out of my comfort zone as being a shy girl and moving into a whole new country. The movie gave me courage.

Which artists do you know in your discipline? What are their themes, how will you find this out?

- Martino Gamper: He is a famous artist who created 100 chairs in 100 days. He restricted himself with 100 days and "unique chairs". This motivated him and made him create this project successfully. As a person who wants to study interior design, seeing different creations of furnitures gave me more excitement for my future. He says "There is no perfect design and there is no uber design. Objects talk to us personally. Some might be more functional than others, and the emotional attachment is very individual". These words of his made me a person who is more proud of herself even if I don't really like my outcome. I learned that everything doesn't have to be perfect. Sometimes the messages can be more important than the appearances.

- Pekmez Boz Architecture: It's a turkish interior design brand created by two successful women. They have a thing called "BoomRoom". This is a challenge that they do to themselves which they restrict themselves with 1 day. They sit with their customers and make them fill a survey which involves lots of questions of their desires. Then after planning everything for weeks, they ask the customer to leave the house for 1 day and come back the other day and for the whole 24 hours they work without stopping and finish the room, house etc. I believe that the way they challenge themselves give them more motivation. As a person who wants to study interior design, this situation forced me to think and create some challenges in the future for myself.

What is conceptually and intellectually challenging to you?

- As a person who wants to study interior design, when I need to do a 3d model I always worry a little. I love sketching but when it comes to modeling I generally can't show what I actually thought in my mind.

- I am not a person who likes to do research with writing, I generally find it easier to sketch my plans, that's why I sometimes have a hard time while doing the research section.
